Autograph poem signed by Hans Christian Andersen entitled "Den anden Januar 1859 - Efter en Vandring" (January 2, 1859 - after af walk). One page. 10 lines. Annotated by previous owner. The poem is written January 2nd 1859, when Andersen as usual, stayed on Basnæs with the melancholic Mrs. Scavenius. The New Year 1858/59 was very mild and the poem is a tribute to spring; "Skyd frem, Skovmærke! Frisk og prud,/ Hæng Piil! din uldne Vante ud, / Kom, Kukker, Lærke! Syng, vi har/ Alt Foraar anden Januar!". "Den anden Januar" has some similarities with the well known fairytale "Snemanden" (The Snow Man) which he wrote at the same place and at the same time of year, but two years later. Provenance: Auction March 2011, Bruun Rasmussen auction no. 815. Lot no. 194.
